In modern America, technology is the largest export. Capital goods such as motors, vehicles, computers, and parts for all these goods make up for an astounding 49% of our exports. Above is a mapping of the exports from the United states, the boxes are sized in relation to the amount of that good exported. Though the modernization of many countries has decreased America's percentage of global manufacturing, the country still produces 18% of all manufactured goods in the world. Unfortunately, China produces a little over 19% of the world's goods.
In the aircraft industry, Boeing and Lockheed Martin lead the field, making around $100 billion a year combined, and hire hundreds of thousands of workers. IBM, Intel, and Microsoft make up a large part of the computer industry, creating parts and units for both Americans and the rest of the world. Pfizer leads the field of medicine. All of these companies generate colossal amounts of money and provide products for consumers in America and in many other countries.
